Do You File For EITC or Child Tax Credit?? If You Do Your Refund WILL BE Delayed This Year….. Share This Information! |#deals #couponing #savingmoney #couponcommunity #coupondeals #linlinsavesyoumoney

Due to a NEW Law passed Starting this tax filing season ANYONE who files for Earned income Tax Credit and/or Child income Tax Credit Will NOT see their refund until February 27th, 2017!

screenshot

You Can file your taxes when the filing season begins but the IRS will NOT accept ANY Refunds Filed EITC and CTC until February 15th!

The IRS will be delaying tax refunds for more than 40 million low-income families this year as the agency steps up efforts to fight identity theft and fraud.

The delays will affect families claiming the earned income tax credit and the additional child tax credit. These tax breaks are geared to benefit the working poor, and many families claim both.

The tax filing season starts Jan. 23. But a new law requires the IRS to delay tax refunds for people claiming these credits until Feb. 15. Processing times will delay most of the refunds until the end of February.

The delay is designed to give the agency more time to screen the returns for fraud. The IRS estimates that it issued $3.1 billion in fraudulent tax refunds to identity thieves in 2014. The year before, the agency says, it paid out $5.8 billion in fraudulent refunds. Over those two years, the IRS says it blocked nearly $47 billion in fraudulent refunds.

The earned income tax credit is one of the federal government’s largest anti-poverty programs. It has also been plagued by billions in improper payments each year, including overpayments, underpayments and fraud.

In 2014, about 29 million families received more than $72 billion in earned income credits.

“The EITC is a pro-work success,” said Chuck Marr, director of federal tax policy at the liberal Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. “It encourages work, it rewards work, and it has long enjoyed bipartisan support for those reasons.”

Eager to get refunds, about half of H&R Block’s customers who claim the EITC file their returns by early February, said Bill Cobb, president and CEO of the tax giant.

The tax preparer is offering interest-free loans to taxpayers affected by the delay, Cobb said.

The additional child tax credit also targets low-income families.

Most families with children are eligible for the standard $1,000-a-child tax credit. The additional child tax credit is for low-income families who don’t owe enough in federal income tax to claim the full credit.

For example, if you only owe $500 in federal income tax, you can use the $1,000 child tax credit to reduce your tax liability to zero. But you don’t get the other $500.

The additional child tax credit enables eligible families to claim the rest of the credit in the form of a tax refund.

RECALL: Twinkies for Salmonella Contamination – Check Yours Then Share

recall

Make Sure you check your Twinkies then share this with your friends.

Hostess is recalling some of its holiday White Peppermint Twinkies over possible salmonella contamination.

It comes after Blommer Chocolate Company, which makes the white candy coating on the Twinkies, revealed the coating might contain milk powder contaminated with the bacteria.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

This recall applies only to the White Peppermint Hostess Twinkies (UPC 888109111571), which were only sold in multipack boxes (9 individually wrapped cakes in a box, as pictured below). This recall does not affect any other Hostess products. The products were sold to mass merchandisers, grocery stores, distributors, dollar and discount stores, and convenience stores throughout the United States.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product are urged to discontinue consumption and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

palmers-recall

Palmer Candy Company Announces Voluntary Limited Recall of Select Candy Products
Recall initiated after discovery of issue with supplied ingredient

Sioux City, IOWA, (January 9, 2017) – Palmer Candy Company (www.palmercandy.com), a privately-held, fifth-generation manufacturer of chocolate and holiday confections, announced today a limited recall of certain chocolate products after being informed by a supplier that a milk powder ingredient used in a compound chocolate coating that they supply to Palmer Candy Company has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The voluntary recall, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) includes selected products produced between October 20, 2016 and December 9, 2016 and shipped by Palmer Candy Company to grocery, convenience store and wholesale customers nationwide.

Recalled products include the following:

UPC #s are usually on the back of the bag or bottom of containers.
Product photos are attached.

To date, there have been no reported illnesses associated with any of the products affected by this recall.

The recall is the result of a potentially contaminated milk powder ingredient recalled by Valley Milk Products, a derivative of which was included as a small portion of the ingredients by another company in a confectionary coating supplied to Palmer Candy Company. Affected products include a variety of candy products sold to retailers under the Palmer Candy Company brand, private label chocolates for retail distribution and bulk products provided to retailers for repackaging. Although testing has shown no pathogenic bacteria in the milk confectionary coatings, the company decided out of an abundance of caution to recall all products produced using any amount of the now recalled ingredients.

Marty Palmer, president and chief executive officer of Palmer Candy Company said, “We are truly sorry for any distress this recall causes to our retail customers and to consumers. We remain committed to the highest standards in food quality and safety. We are taking this recall very seriously and truly appreciate the cooperation of our customers as we work to resolve this matter promptly.”

Consumers should throw out or return these products to the point of sale for a full refund.
For more information, consumers may call to speak with a Customer Service Representative at Palmer Candy Company between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time at 712-258-5543.

recall

RUN AND CHECK YOUR CATS FOOD!! DO NOT FEED THIS TO THEM

The J.M. Smucker Company today announced a limited voluntary recall on certain lots of 9LivesTM, EverPetTM, and Special KittyTM canned cat food due to possible low levels of thiamine (Vitamin B1).

The issue was discovered by the Quality Assurance team during review of production records at the manufacturing facility. No illnesses related to this issue have been reported to date and the product is being recalled out of an abundance of caution.

Cats fed diets low in thiamine for several weeks may be at risk for developing a thiamine deficiency. Thiamine is essential for cats. Symptoms of deficiency displayed by an affected cat can be gastrointestinal or neurological in nature. Early signs of thiamine deficiency may include decreased appetite, salivation, vomiting, and weight loss. In advanced cases, neurological signs can develop, which include ventroflexion (bending towards the floor) of the neck, wobbly walking, circling, falling, and seizures. Contact your veterinarian immediately if your cat is displaying any of these symptoms. If treated promptly, thiamine deficiency is typically reversible.

The affected product was distributed to a limited number of retail customers from December 20 through January 3, 2017.

Here are the affected products:

Do You Own a PS3? If So, Sony May Owe You Money, Read About The Class Action Settlement Here

ps3

If you’re a PS3 owner, today could be your lucky day. Lifehacker points out that thanks to the “Other Operating System” Settlement, you could be entitled up to $55 from Sony.

Apparently, in 2010, Sony removed the ability to install the operating system Linux from the PlayStation 3 though it was a promised feature of the system. Sony disabled the “install other OS” feature during a PS3 software update (a move it claimed was due to piracy concerns), thereby removing the ability to run Linux on it.

People sued, and the case was eventually settled. Now, if you can prove that you used the “Other Operating System” feature to install Linux (because it was your only option) then, you’re entitled to a $55 settlement. If you have only proof of purchase for your PS3 at the time, they’ll give you $9 just for that.

According to the settlement notice sent out this week:

If you purchased a Fat PS3 in the United States between November 1, 2006, and April 1, 2010, from an authorized retailer for family, personal, and/or household use, you are a Class Member and may be eligible to submit a claim to receive a cash payment.

According to Ars Technica, claims are due by Dec. 7. The money you’re owed should be sent out early next year, pending final approval of the settlement.
